Who We Are
At the heart of everything we do is a conviction that Food Is Healing and Food Is Medicine —
not as slogans, but as daily practice.
Get Fresh Daily was born in 2017 from a simple belief: that joyful, culture-centered wellness could transform how communities experience health. We started in classrooms — reimagining school wellness with heart, creativity, and care. What began there has grown into something much bigger: a living ecosystem of schools, families, growers, and neighbors working together toward nourishment and collective wellbeing.
Our Approach
Get Fresh Daily’s Ecosystem Model
Lasting health transformation doesn't happen through isolated programs. It happens when relationships, resources, and community leadership are aligned and working together. That's the foundation of The Get Fresh Daily Ecosystem Model — our evolving, community-rooted framework connecting education, urban agriculture, partnership, and cultural affirmation into one integrated system of care.
Our work moves across three interconnected areas
Culture-Centered Wellness
Joyful, affirming wellness education that reflects the real lives and lived experiences of the people we serve.
Land & Local Food Systems
Urban agriculture and land-based programming that reconnects people to food, growing, and local supply chains.
Cross-Sector Collaboration
Bringing together schools, families, growers, healthcare practitioners, and neighborhood partners to build sustainable pathways to nourishment.
Together, these elements form an ecosystem — community-led, grounded in relationship, and built for the long haul.
Jiana Murdic
Founder + Principal
Jiana Murdic is a strategist, educator, and food systems advocate with more than 20 years of experience in social marketing, program design, and community health. Recognized by Forbes as a Top Culture Leader and by Philadelphia Magazine as Best Community Wellness Leader, her work lives at the intersection of classrooms, city government, and grassroots food systems.
She has served as a mayoral appointee to the Philadelphia Food Policy Advisory Council and previously led Get Real Get Raw, the nonprofit arm of HipCityVeg. Under her direction, GFD's Freedom Greens + Gardens initiative won top honors in the Well City Challenge — a reflection of her belief that the most powerful solutions are the ones communities build together.
Her years as a classroom teacher remain the root of it all — and the reason GFD has always believed that health transformation begins with young people, and grows outward from there.
